Safety Glasses are also known as Safety Goggles. These glasses are primarily meant to serve the purpose of the safety of the eyes. However, these days these glasses also come in a variety of sizes, shapes, and frames. This variation is to ensure the versatility to the user and enhance the purpose and usage of such glasses.

To ensure maximum as well as optimum utilization of safety glasses, it is essential to realize their types and the goals each of them serve.

The classification of the safety goggles is done based on their way of making.

The design of the frame and the lens play a significant role in the sort. The placement of the shields and its length, etc. is essential aspects to determine the purpose of the safety goggles.

There are three different types of safety goggles based on the placement of vent in them. The three types are as follows:

1.     DIRECT VENTED GOGGLES

The direct vented goggles allow the natural flow of air into the inner portion of the goggles. There is a vented portion in the goggles that will enable the opening of which exclude any spherical object that has a diameter of 0.06 inches, i.e. 1.5 millimetres or more significant.

If there is not much risk of slash or entry of hazardous particles, these goggles can serve the purpose well.

2.     INDIRECT VENTED GOGGLES:

This is designed to protect the eyes from any splash entry. The presence of a hooded or covered vent prevents the access of splash into the eyes.

The vent is designed in such a way that it doesn't allow the transmission of straight-line particles present on the outer side to move to the inner side of the glasses. Wherever there are percentages of splash entry, such industries must promote the use of indirectly vented goggles.

3.     NON-VENTED GOGGLES:

There are no vents present in these types of goggles. They provide compete for protection to the eyes from dust, dirt, mist, electricity, light, liquids, etc. In many of the chemical industries, the vapours released are incredibly hazardous to health. In such conditions, only non-vented safety goggles can serve the purpose best.
